‘UNIQUE FORM OF CONTINUITY IN A URBAN ENVIRONMENT’

40” x 60”, Acrylic painting, 2019

inspired by the Italian artist Umberto Boccioni Bronze sculpture Unique Forms of Continuity in Space impressed on me an intense connection of comradeship and revelation. Personally, I always searched to interpret the action of velocity as something I can see and try to explain visually, just as Boccioni explains, “The contours of this marching figure appeared to be carved by the forces of wind and speed as it forges ahead.” Skateboarding always felt like cutting through the streets, but Boccioni inspired me to release the person as an object and interpret it as a form of energy in motion, Thus igniting the creation of the artwork named Unique Form Of Continuity in A Urban Environment.

The ink carves out divisions of light, and the speed of the brush strokes give way to the depths of space with the visual sounds of the beats.
